This Japanese Toumaki knife has a core of Japanese Aogami #2 "Blue paper" carbon steel (non-rustproof). This double-sided sharpened knife is completely hand-forged by the masters Motosuke Nagao. The blade is thick and sturdy and manually sharpened and is very easy to sharpen yourself. This knife is originally developed to be worn with a Samurai sword (in the sheath) but nowadays this knife is mainly used for household purposes such as peeling an apple, eating, woodworking. etc. Toumaki is the name for the traditional winding of rattan around a handle.
