Diamond sharpening plate #400
Diamond cutting plate
Affordable and easy-to-use grindstone with a grain size of 400. No or very little water required.
Can also be used for grinding stone, glass, ceramics or other very harder products.
This plate can itself be mounted on a support if necessary (wood, glass, stone), but can of course also be used separately separately.
Properties:
- Dimensions of the stone: 150 X 64 mm
- Grit: # 400 grit
- Steel with diamond powder on a steel plate (1 mm thickness)
- Abrasive: diamond
- this plate has some remnants of the production process on the back, the plates have been attached to a bottom layer to be able to glue the diamond powder on it. These plates are intended to be attached to an aluminum, wooden or plastic base. So they have not finished the rear.
Particularities
- High hardness and slow wear
- No water required
- Very long service life
- without holder and carrier
Grain size (Grit)
The grain size of Japanese sharpening stones is expressed as a number. The higher the number, the finer the grinding grain and the sharper the result.
Which stone you start with depends on the time you have and the condition of the knife. If the knife is really blunt or damaged, you start with a very coarse stone (200-600), then you can go one step higher each time. With a less blunt knife you can start with a 1000 grit stone. You end with a finish on a 6000-10000 stone, this is meant to get the blade razor sharp. The combination stone (400/1200) or the diamond stone # 1200 supplemented with a 6000 or 8000 finishing stone is in our opinion an ideal starter package.
