Motosuke Nagao Higonokami Sasaba (Bamboo leaf) Black
Motosuke Nagao Higonokami Sasaba Black, 100 mm
This Japanese Higonokami knife has a core of Japanese Shirogami # 2 steel (non-stainless) with a black painted brass handle. This double-sided sharpened knife is completely forged by hand by the only master blacksmith who is allowed to make Higonokami knives (Motosuke Nagao). These Sasaba blades most closely resemble the original Higonokami knives that were developed by Tasaburo Shigematsu in 1894. The blade is sturdy and manually sharpened and is very easy to sharpen yourself. Note that the stated length is measured including the Chikiri (lever), the cutting length of the blade with a 100mm Higonokami is approximately 75mm. This is measured in the traditional Japanese way. Please note that all sizes mentioned can deviate by a number of mm, this is because these blades are forged by hand.
