This beautiful wood comes from the American walnut. With this wood it is possible to manufacture a handle to your liking. 1 block contains enough wood for 2 traditional Japanese handles.
Because walnut is easy to work with because of its softness, this type of wood is often used for decorative furniture such as sideboards or cabinets. In addition to a decorative application, walnut wood can also be used to make utility furniture such as tables and chairs. However, the wood is very sensitive to dents so care must be taken with chairs made of walnut.
It is very easy to work with both by hand and by machine. The advantage of this type of wood is that something can be made with less physical effort. The disadvantage, however, is that you may be chiselling or planing away too much of the wood when processing.
Walnut is a fairly soft type of wood, making it perfect for novice woodworkers!
