SRS13 steel, developed by Nachi-Fujikoshi, is the new innovative super stainless steel for powder metallurgy, which can be treated up to HRc 64. Sometimes blacksmiths choose not to push the hardness (HRc) to the extreme, leaving room for some flexibility. Compared to SG2/R2 steel, SRS13 steel has less chance of chipping or damage due to this flexibility.
