The outer layer has an antibacterial effect, which means that bacteria cannot multiply and you do not have to worry about (cross) contamination. When slicing chicken and pork, it is still essential to wash the board and your knife thoroughly with detergent and hot water before cutting any other product.
Maintenance advice
After each use, the shelf should be cleaned with water and washing-up liquid. Some products cause the shelf to discolour. By occasionally cleaning the shelf with bleach, these stains can be easily removed.
