The horn of cattle can be used as such, after some processing, as a material for wind instruments, drinking cups or storage vessels. The processing of horn as a material has been known since prehistoric times. Horn can be worked like wood. It can be sawed, rasped and so on. This means it can be processed into all kinds of small objects, such as hair combs, handles and knife handles, needles and awls, buttons, spoons, pipes, glasses frames, dice and jewelry.
The water buffalo or carabao (karbauw) (Bubalus arnee bubalis) is a species of mammal in the family Bovidae. The scientific name of this bovine animal was published as Bos bubalis in 1758 by Carl Linnaeus.[1] It is the domesticated subspecies of the wild water buffalo (Bubalus arnee). If, as here, the water buffalo is interpreted as the domesticated form of the wild water buffalo, then, based on ICZN Opinion 2027, the species name Bubalus arnee should be used, and bubalis is the name of the subspecies.
Karbouw is the name for domesticated water buffalos.
