Kagemitsu SKS25 Ruby sharpening rod - 25 cm - (extra fine)

€ 35,00 € 25,00 (including VAT)

Synthetic ruby sharpening rod (for Japanese knives)

Synthetic ruby (corundum) is harder than the hardest type of steel, with this sharpening rod it is easy to keep your knife sharp. We recommend this sharpening rod for daily/weekly use.

PLEASE NOTE, regular sharpening steel rods are not suitable for Japanese knives, the steel is softer than the steel in Japanese knives, so sharpening is of no use. Only ceramic or corundum sharpening rods are suitable for the hard steel in Japanese knives.

Sharpening rod made of solid red synthetic ruby (corundum, Al2O3) with a grain size of 3000 grit.

  • Length: 250mm
  • Total length: 375 mm
  • Weight: 210 grams
  • Handle: Black hard ABS plastic combined with soft rubber for extra grip

Knives that are really blunt or damaged cannot be sharpened with this sharpening rod as it is too fine for that. Preferably use a Japanese whetstone for this. The ceramic sharpening rods are not guaranteed against breakage due to falls.
